Behind the name and the history!
I thought up ("about" or "of" are also good - :)) the name "MediaAccess" while I was still living in the U.S. for the purpose of creating an Internet company in my homeland after losing more than one short-term "permanent" job in the fields of Internet security and network connectivity. The "short-term" permanent job experience is one I hope I never have to repeat - to depend on other managers to be responsible and creative enough to actually semi-fulfill the "permanent" part of the "permanent-job" title. Although those companies ended up crashing and burning, I vowed never to be vulnerable to such incompetence again.
As I saw it, this was a good name for a computer-related business since the word "Media" can represent both the hardware it takes to send data and the software we all use to utilize our cognitive minds for communicating to an (ever broader) audience. "Access", of course, refers to the many aspects of security features and layers, and the gaining of permissions and trusts between each other.
Instead, however, my ventures had taken me to Hungary as an English teacher. After stepping off the plane and being in awe of this magnificent and captivating country with a stormy history, time had opened my eyes and the truth had set in about the hard work it was going to take for me to establish myself in this very different world.
During that time, firstly, I had been recognizing new markets in Hungary and trying to decide how I could build upon one - against all odds, sort of speak. Secondly, I saw some peculiarly communistic-style attitudes and procedures that I hadn’t seen before – it seemed to be making my life - and the general public’s, more difficult than necessary; this gave me a positive twist on my whole idea of building a business in Hungary. Although it seems that many entities are improving their ’modus operandi’, it seemed apparent that there is still work to be done. As a consequence, I have been exploiting some marketing glitches and niches with a more positive demeanor and developed position. Therefore, improving your English-language learning experiences seemed like a good place to start.
Looking at just a few bad-business ideas that were or are being implemented here in Hungary: paying to use restrooms at American-born McDonalds, seeing the conditions of the roads and watching how road crews run their daily operations (where are our taxes?), hearing – and experiencing – sooo, oh sooo many scandals and scams, or running through my immigration hoops are just some examples of a longer list that put a bitter taste in my mouth (All of it's in the U.S. as well, but . . . ).
The very first day I moved into our new office someone heisted 2 of my large and expensive dictionaries I absent-mindedly left in front of MY door for only a few hours - since there isn't much foreign traffic in my building, my suspicions are narrowed - Welcome to the neighborhood?!) I propose a nicer kind of welcome!
On the flip side, I haven’t had so much support and satisfaction from so many genuine individuals. This realistic outlook on Hungarian life gave me a huge impulse to make a difference in my new homeland.
So how does one create a business that is legal, avoids excessive expenses, doesn’t have more-often-than-not irresponsible employees and employers, and one which can significantly develop into an honest income for an honest output in a foreign country and political system that is both skeptical and hostile toward foreigners who come here to settle? How does one avoid the pitfalls of an unscrupulous demeanor with poor wages, low services and high taxes which have been injected into the lives of millions of "peons" - as some with authority might put it - who are simply struggling to float about aimlessly in their small worlds solely in search of some kind of satisfaction somewhere?
Hence, MediaAccess was reborn! MediaAccess aims to motivate, innovate, provide focus and do something more that is more marketable, more service-oriented and more acceptable to a dignified and busy society looking for resilience.
At MediaAccess Bt. we are creating an English-language based business for those of you who would like more options in your life - and more freedom with those options. For those of you who have been in a similar boat, you may want to jump ship or just expand your horizons. To sum up, before installing networks and trusts between computer systems, we all need to network and trust one another and our company will help you get more of that trust and recognition through the art of communication and by helping you make contacts in an English speaking world.
Thus, MA (initials for Media and Access - coincidentally means "Today" in Hungarian) is about networking with people. Hence, a pretty good slogan has emerged - MA - Today is your day to network with others in an English speaking world - "MA, networking with people" has since become the essence of our logo.
Kinda like what the pop band ABBA did in building songs after names - first create the name and then the song - I've built my company after a name that was born years before my departure to Hungary. Anyway, it fits - MediaAccess. All we have to do is to define what the term "networking" really means. In all basic forms, it means to network with others for the purpose of mutual benefits. This basic concept was lost in every computer related business I had worked with, it is lost in many sectors in Hungary as well - and hence, people fail, companies fail and yes, I can't hold myself back - the government fails.
By the way, the T.E.A.M. stands for "Together Everyone Achieves More" slogan I created even before the company name. This was during the last leg of my great job in the largest webhosting company in the world. I had it printed on T-shirts during it's fall to encourage cooperation and discourage in-house fighting and bickering - it didn't work. Then and there . .
This place at Várfok u. isn't a school - it's an office. It's my office and it's your office for the benefit of you and I growing - monetarily and by other means - you and I develop the "me" in "MediaAccess" that's right for you. We define the "Me" - together. Our successes here stand on common ground!
In other words, this isn't just a school nor business without heart and motivation. It is a business that not only helps you with English but other aspects of communication and it requires a satisfied clientele base. That's why, for example, we also offer office-task training and related materials, self-awareness and presentation tasks, to help you learn communication skills in interests of your choosing - including training with office software products, technical jargon, intonation, language test passing, etc. - karaoke, if you want :). Daily, weekly and monthly rates for using all of the facilities are posted under Classes. Drop-ins who would like to use the office for personal use with or without my attention is also available; This is especially helpful for students preparing for interviews, tests, short term and long term preparatory help with tasks at work. (You won't be able to do this without having 20 X 90 minute lessons, first.) We service you! Not the other way around!
Lastly, MediaAccess promotes integrity, goodwill and understanding with relationships in our daily lives. Any solid network system, whether it be people or computers, needs the right dose of these elements to survive and especially to thrive. Without proper connectivity, the network fails and chaos ensues.
Since my business model is designed around your ever-changing lives and networking for the sake of mutuality please feel free to let us know how we can better serve you.
As all seems to be working well with this business model, we are able to provide affordable pricing, flexibility and an expansion of tools which we all can use in our own designated English-speaking worlds.
So, if you're in the area and need to use the Internet or software, learn something new for just a minute or several, the office is usually open.
I hope I've said enough but that I haven't been too long-winded.
What about you? What are your plans and how can we help?
